Subordinate bonds - Definition and our investment universe
Subordinated bonds refer to interest-bearing securities that are undervalued on the basis of the issuer’s current rating or the terms of the bond. Most of these occur in market segments that are still relatively new and therefore only known to a few investors. They may also belong to market segments that are significantly changing due to regulators or rating agencies. Subordinate bonds offer above-average return opportunities with calculable risks.
